Making Compost for Mushroom

If you want to make compost for oyster mushroom then  wheat straw, dried water hyacinth, banana leaves, corncobs, sugarcane bagasse, cotton waste or sawdust ae used for cultivation. The materials are usually composted for 6-30 days before use, depending on the substrate.

Preparation of beds for of mushroom cultivation

  • You have to Wash your hands thoroughly with antiseptic lotion. And you need to use polythene cover and tie it from the bottom end with a thread and turn it inwards.
  • You have to maintain room temperature as per requirement for mushroom.
  • You have to Make store of paddy straw or wheat straw
  • You need to cut straw in 5 to 6 cm sizes
  • once you cut the straw you have to keep it for Soaking in cold water for 4-5 hours
  • once straw ready for further the you have to keep Spawn ready for next
  • Arrange Poly bag with of size 60 x 30 cm, with a thickness of 70 to 80 gauges for cultivation.
  • you have to Strip one side at the end of bag
  • after that you have to fill straw till to a height level comes up with 2-4 inch
  • After that you have to sprinkle the spawn on that straw and you have to follow this step to every of 2-4 inch straw layer.
  • Repeat this process to get 4-5 straw layers with spawns
  • After that filling slightly press the bag and tight with thread
  • Put some very small hole for ventilation to bag you can do 6 to 7 hole to bag
  • And mark to the bag with date so easy that identify the date in future
  • Finally Hanging this bag to rope system

 

 

Precautions for mushroom farming

  • Keep protection from rat as rate eat spawn and mushroom also you need keep away.
  • Periodically you have to sprinkle water to maintain the required temperature.
  • You should not spray any insecticides on the mushroom beds and in rooms as well.
  • Keep the room dark so that spawn growth will be faster.
  • Do not allow visit again and again in the room or in mushroom bed

 


 

How long does mushroom take to be harvested?

 

Mushroom harvesting can go up to 35 to 42 days and its depend on how you maintain the temperature and other thinks
